When Katie Fitzgibbon, owner of Aherne's asked if we would exhibit our paintings in their dining room we were thrilled to be associated with this fine establishment.
Coastal Living Series 19 is now at Aherne's.
Should your travels take you to Ireland, Aherne's is a must.

Helen xx
Beautiful art and photos.
ReplyDeleteHello Maywyn,
DeleteThank you for visiting and for your kind compliments.

Oh, to visit these glorious shores one day. I dream of mine since I was a wee child when family tales were told around the table at 1236 Milwaukee Street in Denver. Others have visited and shared the glory of the island. I, too, will visit! God willing!
ReplyDeleteHello Cathy,
DeleteI sincerely hope your wish to come to Ireland happens. Let me know and we shall meet. It is a good time to visit as the US dollar is in a strong position.
Helen xx
Hello Helen! Your oysters look amazing
ReplyDeleteThey are delicious oysters. These particular ones hail from Galway on the west coast of Ireland.
DeleteThanks for stopping by
Helen xx
Youghal sounds like a place I'd love to visit, Helen, and now I know of Aherne's hotel, it will go on my wish list. To see your beautiful paintings also, would be quite wonderful. We go to Ireland next year for our son's wedding, so fingers crossed, my wish could come true! xx
ReplyDeleteHello Patricia,
DeleteI am sure you will love Youghal and Aherne's. it is a spectacular town and we are still discovering new areas and people. Should your plans be anywhere near Youghal when you visit, please let me know and let's meet.
Helen xx
Goodness, Helen, I never knew about the Sir Walter Raleigh connection. The paintings are beautiful, vivid and welcoming, no doubt a lovely enhancement to an already welcoming place.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for your kind invitation; it would be a joy to have tea with you when in Cork again!
Hello Mise
DeleteYoughal is a long established town and has history which we are discovering weekly. An industrial town which has now changed and there is beginning to be a focus on tourism. It is a spectacular town but one must go high about the town and walk to see the views. I hope to give you a tour some day soon.

Dear Helen - sorry about your brother ... but his poetry and those memories of home you have ... with thoughts as you come to terms with his 'Gone too Soon'.
ReplyDeleteAherne's looks amazing, as too Youghal - and thanks you've told me a bit more ... I still can't remember the other contact I have for Youghal. Oysters would be delicious for lunch ...
Your art and the other paintings evoke that richness of life and colours ... love the one of the 'Over Sea; Under the Sky' - it looks almost like the early Newlyn and St Ives school of artists ... and I'm sure others in coastal settings.
Cheers and have a peaceful time as you adjust ... Hilary
Hello Hilary
DeleteThank you for stopping by and your very kind words of consolation are much appreciated.
Yes Aherne's exudes charm and welcome. The food is superb and in particular the oysters and seafood chowder.
Thank you for the sincere comliment on "Over Sea;Under the sky" I do agree that the coast here resembles Cornwall with tides to be observed.
I will be over to visit you shortly
Helenxx
Dear Helen - As I read your post the tune Galway Bay played along in my head - "If you ever go across the sea to Ireland" at the end how I wished I was. Youghal, and Aherne's look very inviting. You are such a talented group of painters - I am sure that your exhibition will be enjoyed and a great success.
ReplyDeleteHello Rosemary,
DeleteI would love to hear you sing Galway Bay. I wonder if we can ever expect this from google and our blogging world.
Thanks for your words of encouragement and kind good wishes.
I will be visiting you shortly. We have been travelling

What you're saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. I'm sure you'll reach so many people with what you've got to say.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks amazing. What a way to spend the summer. How I'd love to be there.

Beautiful paintings - gorgeous strong colours. Just what I need to bring warmth and colour into my house this wet July day. Aherne's is now in my favourites for the promised trip to Ireland one day soon. The home of my ancestors too.

Very great post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your weblog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing on your feed and I am hoping you write again very soon!
ReplyDeleteHelen I've only just caught up with your words and send my thoughts and care to you. Your brother's poems are lovely and how handsome he looks in the photograph. How full your heart must be of Ireland...beautiful Ireland. My ancestors originate from there and I felt such a sense of belonging when I visited many years ago now. It is just so magically beautiful and everyone so friendly, I was astonished at how literally everyone took you to their hearts and included you like you were one of the family. I wish I could visit again it would be wonderful. But at least I can visit here and see your lovely vibrant paintings and hear your stories to remind me!
ReplyDeleteHugs Helen,
Jane

Dear Helen,
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that simply viewing the pretty paintings depicting coastal bliss and calm, by your Plein Aire Cottage Artist partners and you, seems like I've already had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful Youghal, swimming in its choppy sea, and strolling along its sandy shores? And what better way to get cozy right after, but to nestle into a cozy nook at Aherne's for delicious seafood fare!
Thanks for this gorgeous, Irish getaway, very much needed on this extremely hot and humid Toronto day!
xx
Poppy
