I'm Up All Night To Get Lucky ...and Painting

The Studio is holding me captive

The Studio is holding me captive.  I am very grateful to my patrons for keeping me in the dark and doing what I truly love.   My paintings all begin in the great outdoors and are completed in my studio, with the occasional completed alla prima painting.

Does it feel to you like there are not enough hours in the day?

Sunset over the Gulf of Mexico

recently posted about the French Disco Group's latest song, "I'm up all night to get Lucky"   My friend Mason is  9 years of age and  multi talented.  I believe  he can dance.  What do you think?   Here he is dancing  to this catchy summer song

(regret that you must copy and paste to see Mason dancing)

I plan on visiting and commenting on your blogs very shortly.

  2. It must be wonderful living somewhere as beautiful as where you are, a constant source of inspiration for your paintings.
I couldnt click on the link to see the video, but did a search to hear the song - it's certainly catchy and reminds me of my disco days way back in the 70s and 80s!
Have a great weekend Helen, I hope it's not all work!

    1. Hello Gill

It is indeed a great life when one finds beauty in our own backyard. I regret the video of Mason, I was unable to link and if you wish you may want to copy and past the link to view. He has so many gifts and he never fails to bring joy.

  3. This is a very precious thing;your talent it's your own job!I can share your enthusiasm for what you are doing Helen.
I think that the place you live has similarities with the mediteranean zone. Are these trees, pines or not?
Hope your inspiration and "captivity" will never end.
Wish you a lovely end of week!

    1. Hello Olympia

The trees are indeed Australian pines and provide shade in the hot summer months. Yes there are similarities to the Mediterranean on the Gulf of Mexico. Thank you for your beautiful and heartfelt message.
      May your week bring joy

    2. Helen,
We are in Sweden and enjoying the long summer days. Have you ever visited Sweden? It is so beautiful and lovely during the summer time. I can see you, Violetta and Mary Rose painting here in the wild flower fields. I'll be sharing a post when I return. Thought of you all today!

  5. I know what you mean about not enough hours in the day. I feel like I might have spread myself too thin and taken on too many projects. I am behind on everything. I have also been listening to the Daft Punk song that Tabitha posted. It is very catchy. What a cute video! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

    1. Hello Louise, The song is catchy and has a summer feel. Mason is, I feel, especially gifted. He is also a master at tennis. He does not always feel like dancing but this week surprised us.
Hope your days find time to escape to the Beach.

  7. I don't know what I love more...that you referenced Daft Punk (or that Tabitha did!) OR that you shared this video--Little Dude has got the MOVES! I so love his creativity between the dance and the freaky costume...yep, let your freak flag fly, Mason!

PS. I perhaps am the odd one out in that I actually do have enough hours in the day. Hmmm....

Have a wonderful weekend dear Helen,

    1. Hello Heather

You must hear Daft Punk with even more frequently, they being a French band. Mason as been dancing since he could walk, he was terribly upset when Michael Jackson died, despite being very young, he listened to his music.
I think you are a good manager of your time Heather. Give pats to the dogs.

    1. Hello Paul

I can imagine your business keeps you constantly busy. The sunsets are truly magnificent on the Gulf of Mexico and never two days the same. One of my art partners, Mary Rose plans her days around the sunset. I'm serious.
      Have a wonderful week

  9. I totally agree there aren't enough hours in the day. I'm a morning person and if my husband didn't object, I would be up at five most mornings. Funny, as a child I hated that my mother got up at four. Now I know why...

Gorgeous sunset. What a lovely way to end the day. Have a great weekend Helen.

    1. Hello Sam

We are also early risers. When in Ireland we arise at dawn, usually 5 am in the summertime. I am also capable of burning the midnight oil and burning myself out too.
Life is for living! Hee hee

  10. Hi Helen,

The creative process is one full of intrigue and mystery, I think! Thus, you SHOULD consider yourself lucky to be a protagonist in such a practice!

    Awaiting your next vision!

  11. Cripes Mason is amazing, as talented a dancer as the young michael jackson though obviously you don't want him to end up like Michael Jackson. I think showbiz is a bad career for children, but couldnt he win on one of those talent shows on tv?

    1. Thank you Jenny for watching Mason on video. Mason was quite young when Michael Jackson died and he was quite sad and moved by Michael's death. He used listen to Jackson's music in the car and dance away in his baby seat. He is at the age where he does not want to always be taped when he dances. He is also a very gifted tennis player. He is from a family who are artistic, his grandmother is an Opera singer.
He brings joy to the world.

      Hope your week is special

  19. Helen, I missed this post while we were exploring AZ. . .you have hit the nail on the head! Yes, the days are too short no matter how early I get up or how late I try to stay awake. Isn't it fun though, to be so engaged in life that the days are too short?? Thoroughly enjoyed this post! xoxo J.
