Hello Dear Helen:
ReplyDeleteSoon, oh so soon, you will have forgotten us all, swept up in the whirlwind of Polo, Pimms, Picnics and Princesses to inhabit a world where paints will be replaced with ponies, canvas with couture, and plein-air with parties. Bloggers, universally, will be bereft.
But it all looks so splendid and wonderfully grand. May we attach ourselves as man and woman in waiting, to receive and hold the flowers on your behalf? We promise not to eat peas with our knives!!
Dear Helen,
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting day this must have been. I have never been to game of Polo myself, but It looks like an interesting game. If only for the horses and the handsome men ;-)!
Happy new week!
Madelief x
I often pass bye the polo club here in Houston and always strain to see as much as I can. Polo is very fascinating. The sport, the gorgeous horses and yes, quite often the handsome men. What a marvelous benefit and what a fun time for all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday ~ Deb
Oh my goodness Helen, I am speechless! But fortunately I can still type, so am able to let you know how wonderful I think all of this is. And how amazed I was to read on my post, that you have met the Royal family at both Buckingham Palace and St James Palace too.
ReplyDeleteIf Jane and Lance have offered their services in waiting, perhaps Spotty and I could be your personal horse guard?
Abby xx
Dearest Lance and Jane,
ReplyDeleteHow could I ever forget you.I know I took leave of my senses for a day but neither Princes, ponies, pimms nor nachos nor figueros could replace my half french easel and I will be back in the art world tomorrow.
I did, however, relish and enjoy the thought of you both as my couple in waiting but can I trust you with my flowers. I know that flowers (and gardens) are your expertise and my flowers might end up dried and hanging in your beautiful home in Budapest. Your comment about peas being eaten with a knife made me smile. I remember one time being at a formal dinner where port was served. The port bottle is passed and must never rest on the table, the protocol is to receive the port bottle with the left hand, pour with your right, pass to the person's on your right. Simple but stressful when the occasion has people present who have ladies in waiting.
Thank you for your delightful note, it is so beautifully written.
Helen xx
Hello Madelief
ReplyDeleteI believe you would very much enjoy the game of polo and yes that players are handsome and athletic and so beautifully groomed too.
Who knows perhaps next year you will join us
I shall hold that nice thought
Helen x
Hi Deb Dumbwit Tellher
ReplyDeleteStop in to a polo match when your schedule allows, it is most entertaining and interesting.
It is a refined sport and people are on their best behavour.
Thanks for visiting
Helen xx
Hello Abby @Spotty Pony
ReplyDeleteYour comment has me beaming. I can imagine nothing better than you and Spotty and Lance and Jane all fussing about and visiting me. We would find a meadow of the most verdant green grass for Spotty and a picnic with the finest high tea for us.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment
Helen xx
What a wonderful event ... and I must say, rather wonderful men too! Maybe trailing after Lance, Jane and Abby, I could profer lace hankies to you for you to drop at the feet of the dashing and eligible polo players!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a polo match and I feel like I've been missing out! As a horse lover that seems remiss! Especially if polo players look like that mangod. Yum.
ReplyDeleteJane @ Vintage Jane
ReplyDeleteHow you have made me smile with that thought of lace hankies. Wan'nt it Kitty O'Shea who did that to lure Charles S Parnell? It would be lovely to have you join with Lance, Jane, Spotty and Abby. Thanks for the creative input
Helenxx
Hi Katie
ReplyDeleteAs a horsewoman you would particularly love polo. It is a beautiful sport and the players are attractive gentlemen too.
Have a great week Katie
Helen
Oh my Helen, the circles you move in! Looks like tremendous fun. Couldn't you persuade the gorgeous Nachos to sit for you? Love Linda x
ReplyDeleteLinda - Flowers on my table
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful day Linda. I am sure the handsome Nacho would have joined us but darn it he had to work!
He did show off a bit when he passed by us as he played polo! ha
Helen xx
I have never been to a polo game before but I am glad you had a wonderful time! And the polo player/ model is very handsome, too!

OMG Helen, I just watched the video on your treasure and it was so touching. I had chills. What a amazing childhood and family you had!
ReplyDeleteI loved every minute of it. Your painting captures it beautifully. I loved it before you even spoke of it...
Thank you for dropping by my blog so I could find you and your treasure.
Thank you for sharing it and yourself!
Lots of Love,
Terri
Helen, remember when I said I thought your picnic basket was better looking than Prince Charles? Well... I think that Number one must now go to Nacho. He IS better looking than your picnic basket and Prince Charles just doesn't stand a chance, but... has a nicer, more sophisticated name than Nacho!
ReplyDeleteSorry, Helen... I'm just having a bit of fun! Hope you don't mind!
You are a very lucky lady, indeed!
ANNA
Hello Terri at La Delfina
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kindness and taking time to watch My Treasure video. Yes, Terri I am truly blessed to have had such great parents and an idyllic upbringing. Thanks for validating my art work, such a compliment coming from a designer such as yourself Terri. Looking forward to visiting your future blogs.
Lots of Love,
Helen
Hello Anna
ReplyDeleteIndeed I do remember your comment on HRH Prince Charles versus the picnic basket. Ha Ha. Anna I love your humour and enjoy seeing your comments on other blogs. Nacho is a rather unusual name and I wornder th origin. What do you feel would be an appropriate name for him? (please not paella)
Nacho is a gentleman too and not just handsome.
Helen
You are a very lucky lady, indeed!
Thank you for your kind comment Helen....I thought I had been living the high life with Pimms and champagne in Paris, but you have been too with gorgeous Polo players in Toronto!
ReplyDeleteJulie x
Hello Helen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a nice comment, which has led me to your blog! What a hunk Nacho is! My Mum would tell you that Argentina is full of handsome men such as he - she grew up and married my Dad there after all! One time I flew out there, the Argentine polo team were on the same plane! Shame I was a shy girl in my twenties...
Oh, Helen! I'm so glad you don't mind my sense of humour. I can be very silly, at times.
ReplyDeleteAnyway! I actually discovered that Nacho is a diminutive form of the Spanish name Ignacio. There you go!
I can't think of another name for him. Nacho is quite nice, really...it kind of "grows" on you!
CIAO...
ANNA
Lovely post on a lovely sport!
ReplyDeleteNacho is divine, isn't he?

ReplyDeleteHow interesting that your parents are Argentinian. What a small world that being that you would travel on the same plane as the Polo team.
Argentina is on my list of places to visit.
Thanks again for your kind comments and here's to friendship
