Wilde's Fairy Tales

Photo taken this week on Cliff Walk, Ardmore, Co Waterford.

My apologies for being absent from this blog for so long.    There is a ton of excuses but they are all outdated.    I try and visit my favourite blogs and still love reading blogs and I think of the beautiful stories and life events that my blogging friends have written about over the years.

I have been enthralled by a five part radio programme on RTE (Radio Telefis Eireann) Lyric FM.  Oscar Wilde penned five fairy tales. Each week one of  Wilde's fairy stories was read and scholars from Trinity College Dublin and Oscar Wilde's grandson spoke/reviewed  the fairy tales.    Should you wish to listen, they are available on Podcast, free of charge.  www.wildestories.ie.  Tip: When you click on e.g. Episode One  Click on the Link that says "Listen to Wilde Stories' Episode in full"

I have a hard time picking a favourite and I cried when I listened to "The Nightinggale and The Rose"

Please tell me your favourite story.

  1. Hi Helen,

So lovely to see a post from you! No need to apologize for living life! I, too, had been absent from Poppy View for 2 months; it was a busy summer.

The Oscar Wilde stories sound intriguing. Thanks for sharing your discovery!

    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Poppy xx

    1. Hello Poppy,
I hope you had a fun summer as well as a busy summer.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Oscar Wilde series and got on a roll of reading Oscar's other books.

Hope you have a glorious weekend.

      Helen xx

  2. Oh Helen, like Poppy said above, one must put the blog writing into perspective. I recall reading somewhere when I first began blogging that to be 'successful' one needed to post three times a week. So I did that. Then I dropped to twice a week and now I am lucky if I post once a week. The friendships I've developed and the things I've learned about people and places far outweigh those stats and other things that are supposed to be important. All that said, I am delighted to see a post come through on my reading list today. Welcome back! Hugs, Jackie

    1. Hello Jackie,

You have been consistent in posting to your blog and like you I treasure the friendships formed here. Infinitely better than pen friends as we have the added advantage of digital photography.
Hope life is wonderful at the Stone Cottage.
      Have a great weekend
      Helen

  3. Oh how lovely to see a post from you Helen, and happy to hear you are living life to the full. Thank you for taking me back to our trip to Ireland last year, where I also stood in a ruined arch for a pic :) I remember loving the Nightingale, and of course, was thrilled to find the Oscar Wilde memorial in the vicinity of our Dublin hotel. Take care xx
