Beware of night ramblings

Cornell Museum - Crest Threatre (photo courtesy Melissa Carter)
Beware of night ramblings

We don't knooow what we don't knooow, said a non English speaking professor  of architecture when describing the famous Palladio in a lecture to us one time in Venice, Italy.  We forgot most of the wisdom he imparted at our lecture but his expression "We don't knoooooow, what we don't know"(which he repeated throughout the lecture)  is often repeated by us at parties and we(artists, Violtta and Mary Rose, Plein Aire Cottage Artists) all giggle uncontrollably at our little inside joke and at the fondness of the memory.

We just don't knooow who is checking out our blogs and what surprising, joyful news and invitations are coming our way.

Following my posting on encaustic painting, the Director of Cornell Museum contacted me and asked if I would exhibit some of my encaustic paintings at their museum. Cornell Museum at Old School Square is located in downtown Delray Beach, Florida, a first-class resort destination and a diverse, vibrant "All-America" city.  This "Village by the Sea" is situated on the Atlantic Ocean between Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.  Delray Beach is just 30 minutes south of Palm Beach International Airport and 45 minutes north of Fort Lauderdale.

The charming Cornell Museum of Art and American Culture (c. 1913) presents rotating local, national and international exhibits of fine art, crafts and pop culture.  The intimate, 323-seat Crest Theatre (c. 1925) presents world-class musicals, comedy, variety, Broadway cabaret with New York's hottest stars, and lectures with nationally renowned speakers.

Should you happen to be in the Delray Beach area between July 12 and October 23, 2011, please stop in and visit.

The delightful town has numerous outstanding restaurants and boutiques and also a beautiful beach.

Cornell Museum has a triptych of their building, painted by the Plein Aire Cottage Artists,
Helen Tilston, Mary Rose Holmes and Violetta Chandler.  One panel painted by each artist, as seen below. It is proudly hung at Cornell Museum.Cornell Exhibition of art

  1. Hello Helen:
Conversely, we assume, we knooow what we knooow!

Of one thing we are certain is our absolute delight at the constant recognition of your work in so very many illustrious places. You must be thrilled and would that we were able to see it for ourselves from July 12th. The idea of a triptych, painted by three different artists, is so very fascinating and, surely, quite unusual.

The picture you show of your fellow artists are so very happy. They look to be the most wonderful of colleagues and friends. We do so wish you all well.

As an aside, we have reverted to addressing you as Helen, rather than Helena, over which we may have made a mistake for which many apologies. Both are favourite names of ours.

  4. Good Morning Jane and Lance Hattatt

To my delight and assumption please knooow that your note has certainly brought me tremendous joy.

It would be so wonderful to meet you and Delray Beach would provide the perfect backdrop for a perfect visit.

I treasure my friendship with Violetta (Russian born) Mary Rose American born - we call ourselves the IRA - (Ireland Russia and America) however, the only weapon we brandish is a paintbrush. It is wonderful to have a professional relationship that also crosses the line into strong friendship and mutual respect. Both of them are joyous and have a wicked sense of humour, sometimes childish as you can see.(I feel both of you are very familiar with this and how you choose to live life).

Thank you for your liking my name in both its forms, my friends call me Helen and in the "I knoow what I knoow theme", I consider you friends.
Hope the weather is a little cooler in Budapest.

    Helen xx

Delighted to hear you gained a chuckle and that despite living with Augustus and Ollie you remain with the philosophy "We don't knooow, what we don't knooow". Our pets certainly make us wiser.
I love your blog and wishing you weather where the cats can chase the sun rays.
